Why the name “Beauty for Ashes”?
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion– to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.Isaiah 61:1-3 TPT
The title for my blog, “Beauty for Ashes” was birthed when the Lord really pressed this scripture into my heart. For some reason it stuck out and was highlighted to me so much when I first got saved in 2016. I remember one time I was walking out of a grocery store and I found a silver ring on the floor that had flowers all around it (I lost it already, I am still sad about it till this day…). When I picked it up, I was like “Woah… this is how Jesus picked me up off the floor.” This ring was VERY dirty and needed to be cleaned. Which is what I did as soon as I got it that day, the ring was absolutely beautiful despite the condition I found it in. Jesus did that for me though. He picked me up from the ground. He created something beautiful out of the mess I was in. He literally grabbed the muddiest places of my life and shook the mud off of me. I’ve been saved by grace, sis, and He can do the same for you if you just let Him. I believe that all women (and men) should have a crown of beauty instead of ashes. Instead of that lifestyle you want to get out of, instead of that dead relationship you can’t seem to let go of, instead of all of which God isn’t. You deserve all that He has for you. He’s the perfecter of our lives.
